Hope for Children Born with Ambiguous Genitalia
December 8, 2025
A productive meeting held with Senator Dr. Zarqa
January 28, 2026yesterday was not just a medical session — it was a moment of hope, compassion, and shared humanity.
From the United States, the Medical Director of Care Foundation USA, Dr. Karen Sue, dedicated her time and expertise to conduct an online OPD for intersex children. She carefully reviewed complex cases and adjusted life-saving medication dosages. For families who often suffer in silence due to stigma and fear, this guidance brought reassurance, dignity, and renewed hope.
Alongside this critical medical care, an awareness and educational session was attended by 20 students of clinical psychology ( PCCP BATCH 5)and faculty members from the Psychology Department of Kinnaird Center for Learning And Cultural Development -KCLCD Lahore , led by Prog. Director Dr. Rukhsana Mahmood. The session focused on the difference between transgender and intersex conditions — a sensitive yet essential topic that is widely misunderstood in our society. Through knowledge, dialogue, and empathy, young minds were enlightened and future advocates were shaped.
On behalf of Birth Defects Foundation, Chairman Ansar Javed, Chief Surgeon Professor Dr. Muhammad Afzal Sheikh, Professor Dr. Nabila (Surgeon), Vice Chairperson Noreen Khan, General Secretary Agha Ali Raza, and Miss Furqan Khan (Manager Coordination & Public Relations) warmly welcomed Dr. Karen Sue and the Kinnaird College delegation.
