A seminar was organized at Lead University, DHA Phase 5, Lahore, where Professor Dr. Afzal Sheikh, the Chief Surgeon of the Birth Defect Foundation, spoke about children with ambiguous genitalia, and Ansar Javed, Chairman and Psychologist, discussed the treatment of transgender individuals.
This seminar was organized by Dr. Amjad Tufail, Head of the Department of Psychology, and was attended by the university’s Vice Chancellor Mr. Nadeem Bhatti and Mr. Tasaddaq Gilani from Islamabad.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor said:

“When I was coming to this seminar, I was wondering what I was about to hear. We had no idea what to expect. But after attending and hearing the things that were shared in this seminar, I was truly surprised — why had we not known about these things until now? There is indeed a great need for awareness and understanding.”
He also requested Professor Dr. Amjad Tufail to organize another seminar on the topic, in an even better and more comprehensive manner.
