Meeting between Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan (Former Minister of Information) and Chairman of Birth Defects Foundation, Ansar Javaid
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, former Minister of Information, recently met with Mr. Ansar Javaid, Chairman of the Birth Defects Foundation (BDF). The meeting was arranged by BDF’s brand ambassador, Mr. PJ Mir.
During the meeting, Ansar Javed briefed Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on the successful surgeries performed so far for children with ambiguous genitalia, cleft lip and palate, and those who require lifelong medications.
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan offered to collaborate with the Birth Defects Foundation through her hospital — Sharifa Bibi Hospital Sialkot, which she established in the name of her parents. The hospital will serve as a filter clinic for BDF.
Patients from Sialkot and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel to Lahore for initial assessments. Instead, they can receive initial diagnosis and evaluation at Sharifa Bibi Hospital, and then be referred to Lahore for surgery if required.
Additionally, children who require lifelong medication will be able to receive these medicines free of cost at the same hospital in Sialkot — eliminating the need to travel to Lahore.
Chairman Ansar Javed agreed to establish Sharifa Bibi Hospital as a filter clinic for the convenience of the patients and also consented to visit Sialkot soon.
This collaboration will ensure that patients from Sialkot and nearby areas receive timely and accessible care, closer to home.
