Birth Defects Foundation – Our Core Projects
1. Treatment & Surgery for 18+ Types of Birth Defects
The Birth Defects Foundation provides free diagnosis, treatment, and surgery for more than 18 types of congenital birth defects. These defects appear during pregnancy or at the time of birth and can seriously affect a child’s health and quality of life.
Common birth defects we treat include:
Clubfoot (twisted feet)
Bow legs / knock knees
Enlarged head (Hydrocephalus)
Spinal swelling or lump (Spina Bifida)
Urinary tract abnormalities
Blood in urine
Epilepsy
Cleft lip & cleft palate
Undeveloped or unclear genital organs
And many more childhood birth-related conditions
Objective:
Our main mission is to ensure that no child remains untreated due to poverty, fear, or lack of awareness. All children with birth defects receive 100% free medical care and surgeries, led by our senior pediatric surgeon, Professor Dr. Muhammad Afzal Sheikh.
2. Management of Ambiguous Genitalia (Intersex – Disorders of Sex Development)
The Holy Quran states that Allah created everything in pairs—male and female. However, some children are born with ambiguous genitalia, where the parents cannot identify whether the baby is a boy or a girl at birth.
Our Role:
We conduct complete medical investigations, including Karyotyping, to determine the child’s true biological sex.
After confirming whether the child is male or female, we perform multiple corrective surgeries (usually 2–3 stages) to align the child’s body with the gender already determined by Allah at birth.
We never change a child’s gender. We only correct and clarify the gender they are naturally born with.
This is one of our most important and life-changing projects for families.
3. Transgender Psychological Support & Rehabilitation
In society, Intersex and Transgender individuals are often confused with each other, but they are completely different conditions.
Difference: Intersex vs. Transgender
Intersex (Ambiguous Genitalia):
A medical condition present at birth.
Child is born with unclear genitalia.
Diagnosis and treatment are surgical & medical.
Transgender (Gender Dysphoria):
Baby is born completely normal with a clear male or female gender.
However, at age 4 or later, a psychological condition known as Gender Dysphoria develops.
The child begins to feel mentally opposite to their biological sex.

This project is supervised directly by Chairman Ansar Javed, who is also a trained psychologist and oversees transgender mental health services.
