A Mother’s Prayer Reaches the Heavens
A mother came to Birth Defects Foundation in deep distress—her second child was born with unclear gender, and in Pakistan, such a complex surgery is generally not possible before the age of 10.
But with the tireless efforts of Prof. Dr. Afzal Sheikh, Chief Surgeon at Birth Defects Foundation, and with support from a team of doctors visiting from the UK and Turkey, a miracle happened. Upon request, the international team performed a 100% free, six-hour successful surgery on charity.
Had this surgery not been performed, the child would have had no chance of building a family in the future. Now, by the grace of Allah, when the time comes, this girl will have the ability to marry and live a normal life.
